EXPERIENCE LEVEL
The upcoming workshops will be for beginners on Saturday and intermediates on Sunday.
Beginners are those who have never taken a pastel workshop from me before.
All levels are welcome for Saturday.
Sunday's workshop is for intermediates and for those who took the Saturday Workshop.
COURSE AND WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
Both workshops will open at 9:00 am - settle in, get a pastry, have some coffee or tea and say hi to your neighbor.
Teaching begins at 9:30-4:00.
Saturday's Beginner's workshop will start with a discussion about materials and a demonstration and paint-along for handling pastel, especially strokes, and some color theory. In the afternoon we will create together a landscape.
Sunday's Intermediate workshop will focus on a step by step demonstration/paint along exploration of color theory and composition. I'm working on how to study and create strong abstract composition which as we know builds a strong painting no matter what the subject matter.
February 16 Sunday Intermediate workshop will be continuation of working with an abstract armature to create a strong base for your painting. Class will continue to focus on strong compositions elements to build a strong painting. Artists will be using their own reference landscape photographs
MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES
Students need a set of at least 48 Nupastels. The teacher will be using a set of 96 NuPastels and also Sennelier Plein Air Landscape 80 1/2 sticks. Sennelier pastels are a great addition to your set but not necessary for the workshop.
Also recommended: a notebook, drawing board, masking tape, paper towels and baby wipes (to clean your hands). A drawing board can be created by cutting foam core to a 12”x16” size or larger. No cardboard, please.
I get my supplies from DickBlick.com and Jerrysartarama.com
I will supply UArt sanded pastel paper, rubbing alcohol and brushes for the underpainting.
